Chapelle Notre Dame du Bonlieu
La chapelle Notre-Dame du Bonlieu est un édifice religieux catholique se trouvant au cœur du bois du Bonlieu, à Ethe, dans la province de Luxembourg (Belgique).
Histoire

Selon une tradition locale une chapelle avec ermitage aurait été fondée en 1050 au cœur du bois de Bonlieu, section de l'ancienne grande forêt ardennaise, par Louis II, comte de Chiny qui, victime d’un accident de chasse, aurait été soigné par le curé de Rouvroy. Le comte Louis II de Chiny et son épouse Sophie y reposent depuis près d’un millénaire.
En 1796, l’ensemble fut démoli par décision des autorités révolutionnaires.
La chapelle actuelle fut construite en 1943 . Elle ne fut bénie qu’en 1945 par Mgr André-Marie Charue, évêque de Namur, la bénédiction initialement prévue en 1943 ayant été interdite par les autorités allemandes.

The Notre-Dame du Bonlieu chapel is a Catholic religious building located in the heart of the Bois du Bonlieu, in Ethe, in the province of Luxembourg (Belgium).
Story

According to a local tradition, a chapel with hermitage was founded in 1050 in the heart of the Bois de Bonlieu, a section of the former great Ardennes forest, by Louis II, Count of Chiny who, victim of a hunting accident, was treated by the parish priest of Rouvroy. Count Louis II de Chiny and his wife Sophie have been resting there for almost a millennium.
In 1796, the whole was demolished by decision of the revolutionary authorities.
The current chapel was built in 1943. It was not blessed until 1945 by Mgr André-Marie Charue, Bishop of Namur, the blessing initially planned for 1943 having been prohibited by the German authorities.
