Schizophrenia
The purpose of my sustained investigation is to explore Schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a case when an individual seems “normal” from the outside but has a difference in reality inside. I used Man Ray’s and Andreas Feininger’s surrealist photos in my work, as the unreality within surrealism is similar to the world of people with schizophrenia. In my works, I especially used black-white photographs because black and white represent the rigid boundaries of us (society) and the view of life from a single angle. I used the colored sewing thread to represent schizophrenia’s view of life. While we (society) may see life with boundaries, schizophrenia patients have different
boundaries and realities.
