New York Rockerfeller Center Xmas Tree

Christmas doesn't being in New York New York until the Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Centre is lit.

 

The Rockefeller Center tree tradition began in 1931, when construction workers decorated a 20-foot balsam fir. The first formal Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony took place two years later.

 

This year's tree is a 79-foot tall Norway spruce that was brought up from Maryland.

 

It is decorated with 50,000 lights and topped with a dazzling 900 lb. star made with 3 million Swarovski crystals.
