If you wanna talk about steam, let's not talk about the dull Big Boy or the steamy beaver. Let's talk about some true Santa Fe steam: #2926.
As most people know, #2926 has been in Albuquerque for decades. It was on display in a park since the early 60s and for the last 20 years has been cared for and built back up by a team of outstanding individuals. In the last couple years, they have gotten #2926 to an operating condition, which is awesome. While it has not really run the mainline yet, there is potential.
While in ABQ for the SFH&MS yearly meet, some folks got the opportunity to see this beauty up close and personal while under fire. Some people even get up in the cab and see the inner workings, but those individuals shall remain nameless to protect the innocent ;)
While getting regular pictures, there was a massive telephone pole in the way. But luckily, the steam crew went into reverse for a couple hundred feet, allowing a clearer view and thus an opportunity to get a decent aerial view. So as you can see, I took advantage of that opportunity.
