CY Derailment
Oh boy......
Last Friday, a derailment occurred in Cherokee Yard. This is not an extremely rare occurrence, but it was certainly a bigger derailment than most.
Apparently early Friday morning (like still dark early), the trimmer was working the west leg of the wye as they usually do. There was also a set of power that was headed for the house. Someone had clearance to use that track, but both crews thought they had it. I do not know who is really to blame for this, but either way it was not good.
As the power was backing in towards engine service, the trimmer kept shoving until the two collided via tank car, which pushed that EMD over on its side.
So yeah, big mess. I didn't even hear about this until mid-morning. I had some time before a lunch meeting in Downtown Tulsa, so I decided to swing by and scope out the damage for myself.
I took this shot from the 23rd St bridge. You can see the damage for yourself.
Oddly enough, this is my first shot from this bridge looking east (geographic north). I've only been up here a couple times, which is sort of by design. Too much traffic on this bridge for my liking...
