GRDX-2

I had the great opportunity to photograph an ex-ATSF GP9. The original locomotive was in the zebra stipe scheme and later transitioned into freight blue and yellow when it was upgraded to a GP9u. It survived into the BNSF merger until the early 2000s when it was sold off to the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) in NE Oklahoma.

GRDA is a public power company who generates electricity for nearby communities. One of their power plants use coal as a fuel source to generate electricity. Hence the reason GRDA has their own locomotive. They need one to shift around coal cars back and forth from their plant in Choteau, OK to the UP yard in Pryor, OK where the coal is delivered.
