Essential Gear (N02_0851)

Here is some of the gear that I can't live without when travelling with my Nikon D3300 camera and two lens travel kit.

Upper left is a Giotto Rocket Blower used to blow dust off and out of your camera bodies and lenses. Never use canned air as the propellant can damage your mirror and sensor.

Upper right is a Hoodman Hoodloupe, an essential item for viewing your LCD screen in bright sun to see if you really nailed the shot. I consider it expensive and overpriced for what it does but find it essential when you really need it.

Lower right is a Spudz brand microfiber cloth in integral pouch. This is very handy for cleaning lenses, filters and the screens on your camera or phone. If you wear eyeglasses as I do it works well there also. TIP: Be sure to blow off any dust or grit before using your cloth to avoid scratching the glass surfaces.

Lower left is the very handy Nikon ML-L3 IR remote shutter trigger. This is a very handy device that replaces the more cumbersome wired or wireless triggers required for other cameras. It works with the D3xxx series through the D7500 but does not work on the D300s or D500 bodies which I consider a real shame - it really is that handy. Note that the D7500 does not have a rear facing IR sensor.

Not shown are spare batteries and charger, extra SD cards, and a larger microfiber towel for wiping mist and drizzle off my camera and lenses as needed. I also have a light weight clear disposable shower cap for a little extra rain protection in moderate conditions.
