Andromeda Galaxy

Andromeda Galaxy, also known as Messier 31 or simply M31, is our nearest big neighbour. This 150 000 light years big spiral galaxy lies about 2,5 million light years away in the constellation of Andromeda, after which it takes its name. It's the largest member of the Local Group, which includes also the Milky Way Galaxy and M33 in the constellation of Triangulum. Milky Way and Andromeda are approaching and are expected to collide in 5 billion years.

This image is a combination of data taken in the summer and a couple of days ago. The first batch of data was taken on the 4th of August, but the result wasn't good, so I didn't publish that. But on the 3rd of January, half a year later, I took another batch with my new modified camera Canon 1300D and it was finally enough to do a nice picture. I really like it and hope you do too. 😎
