this was another photo i edited in photoshop. the first thing i did was decrease the exposure ever so slightly to really get a good balance. next i increased the contrast slightly to get the shadows to pop more. the next thing i edited was my friend's skin. his skin was a little red in the original so by taking the skin color on his wrist i was able to lighten it out. the next thing i did was increase the blue hue which made the colors in the photo look "cooler" and not as harsh sine the red hue was kind of in the whole picture.

 

this photo was also part of my photo essay which i was trying to document parts of Rockford and its beauty. this photo was taken in a rougher part of Rockford but we were still able to capture some beauty in the fact that the esthetic is really nice with the blurred out background which helped from the aperture settings. i also used some side lighting on this one since the sun was setting or almost set. the shutter speed is getting slower too as the sun was setting. this really captures a lot of elements of FACIT such as the rule of thirds as my friend is in the thirds of the photo. another good aspect is the composition which really helps to accentuate my friend while also documenting the background.
