Country Comforts

Old stage stop on the Peoria to Galena trail. Zachary Taylor and Jefferson Davis passed by here as young officers on their way to assignments at Fort Winnebago in the 1840’s. Both were future presidents… one of the United States, the other of the Confederate States.
