World Ozone Day
Today is the day to raise awareness on the important role the Ozone layer plays on existence of life on Earth. It is a highly reactive gas composed of three oxygen atoms (O3) that surround Earth from all sides.
• It reduces the amount of harmful UV radiation reaching the Earth’s surface.
It occurs in the Earth’s upper and lower atmosphere.
• Ozone is formed by the reaction of ultraviolet ray from Sun (UV) with molecular oxygen (O2).
