This logo is for my personal business, it is my personal logo. Essentially, the logo design incorporates “J,” “M,” and “D,” the first letters for “Jillian Mahoney Designs” into one interconnected logo. From the designing process, I eventually made it look like a heart, which was first unintended when I was designing it until I realized I liked this design and then noticed it was a heart, and I think eventually I can make a slogan, a catchphrase to go along with it.

 

So, for the design, I first started out with a script looking J, M and D but I realised that it did not really fit me or the image I was going for. I then started working with more geometric shapes or with a combination of straight and curved lines, interconnecting the letters to make a unified symbol. I eventually landed on two designs that I liked but they were not quite there yet. With those two designs, I started a new sketch page and started making small adjustments until I ended up with a design similar to the one depicted above. From there, I added small details to emulate that heart shape but when looking at the design, you could still see the J, M, and D. For the text, I used a sans serif font to match the design. Serif typefaces tended to not align or match the the feeling of the logo. So with the sans serif type face, I originally tried to go to the right of the design but it did not really end up feeling balanced so I moved the text to underneath the logo.

 

On my photostream, I included an extra page that just has the logo by itself with no text.
