Valdresflya

by photographer_jb

For many years I visited Norway, the best place was Valdresflya in Jotunheimen, a Mountain plateau, 1400 meters above sea level. Here the climate (was) polar climate with plants, animals and birds, which have adapted to the polar climate. Polar Fox, Log-tailed Skua and many more. The vegetation are (was) very low to the ground, only rarely more than 5 to 10 centimeters or lower, some grasses a bit higher. Spring time could vary at least 3 weeks from year to year, even mid June all of the Mountain plateau could still be covered with deep snow. There are high Mountains all around, except to the South. In theses Mountains I have hiked endless miles in all kind of weather. I still remember in 1982 when I first visited Valdresflya, coming up on the Mountain Plateau, it looked like a barren moon Landscape, but when I got to learn the area, it was full of life and very beautiful.
