Dangerous life on the railway line and railway tracks through the slums: The death train of the Philippine National Railways takes one victim every week. The route goes from Tayumen in Tondo to Alabang. Thousands of illegal settlers have settled along the tracks. Most of the families have now been resettled. The photos are from 2005 and show the lives of the settlers, the poorest of the poor. Many locomotive drivers from that time are traumatized because they ran over a number of people, including children. Some of the old diesel locomotives are still in operation!
