Covenant
Your heart stores up memories
Does it not?
And so does mine
I remember when I caught
The blood
Instead of wine
I could do anything
At that moment
I could move mountains
Make the sun always shine
I could give you life everlasting
So you would always be mine
But you left me
And my fearful gift
Left me with my broken promises
And unending sorrow
Always wondering
Why you left me behind
But now I know
I have worked it out
I am your hope
For those where it has run out
I am your love
Your endless covenant
Bound together
With the divine
This is only the second time I have taken this particular Grail cup out with me on a shoot. I have had it for quite a while in my possession, but have not felt until now that I had found the right church or churchyard setting for it. Previously, I had taken it out into the landscape and photographed it surrounded by snowdrops. However, I have been to a different church recently, although still in Sussex, at the village of Ripe. The Grail and I seemed to make wonderful connections here; the Grail, the churchyard, the tomb and the camera and my constant quest.
