Macro Photography | Insects and Spiders ___ 04_SZN5020-1 copy 2
“Caught in the act”, both copulating Brown Leaf Weevil and Common Snipe Fly species were unfazed by the indiscretion of my probing camera lens. Any objections would have amounted to no more than the insects flying away for they do not bite. Dramatic scenes pertained to the sightings of several millipedes infected by a fungi parasite driving the host to climb to an atypical open and elevated spot before death with the parasitic lifeform thereafter feeding on its host before spreading its spores to the environment. Spiders guarded their webs for any unfortunate insect whereas ants were foraging for food to take back to their nests. This series concludes with images of Forked Scorpion flies for the males curling their tail like their ground dwelling desert namesakes, though they have no abilities to sting of bite. Arthropods are Amazing creatures.
