India has adopted a Parliamentary form of Government, which is Federal in ordinary circumstances and becomes unitary in extraordinary situations. Under the federal provision there are various provisions which are made by the founding father of our country to provide certain level of autonomy to the states, here power is distributed between centre and state under various provisions of constitution, such as Provision of seventh schedule( three lists), written constitution, provision of free and fair election, Independent judiciary, Bicameral legislature in the centre, provision of article 249 etc.
The constitutional system of Madhya Pradesh is developed under the provision of Indian Constitution which is of parliamentary form of government’s nature.This entire system is divided into four category -
- Legislature - Unicameral - State Legislative Assembly - 230 Seats & The Governor is nominal head.
- Executive - Governor, Chief Minister and Council of ministers,Chief Secretary, State Secretariat, The Directorate and Departments(Satpura & Vindhyachal Bhavan).
- Judiciary - High Court - Principal Bench - Jabalpur, Subordinate Judiciary at District and Tehsil level.
- Local bodies - Panchayati Raj and Urban Administration.
