Geography Of Madhya Pradesh

 

 

Madhya Pradesh is rich in forest resources,biodiversity wild flora and fauna.It has largest number of tigers in country does also known as Tiger state. The project tiger in state included five national park and one wildlife sanctuary as total six sites. There are various animals found in Madhya Pradesh such as Tiger, Barasingha, Deer Leopard, Sambar, Shah Bulbul Bird, Kharmor Bird, Kadaknath,Ghadiyal, Spotted Deer,Neelgai etc.

 

Madhya Pradesh has largest number of National Parks (12) in India and the total wildlife sanctuaries are 30.

 

Ghatigaon(Gwalior) and karera(Shivpuri) wildlife sanctuary are dedicated to preserving sonchiraiya, while sailana (Ratlam) and sardarpur (Dhaar) wildlife sanctuary are dedicated to preserve the Kharmor Bird.

 

 

Dudhraj/Shah Bulbul/Paradise flycatcher is Madhya Pradesh state bird.

The total area covered by national park and wildlife sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh is 10862 square kilometres, which is 3.52 % of total geographical area & 11.40% of total forest cover.

 

National parks in Madhya Pradesh :-

Under section 35 of wildlife protection act 1972 state government has right to declare any area as a national park by issuing a notification and under section 18 it can declare any area as a wildlife sanctuary by issuing notification.
