Kinbane

From the viewpoint of the fellow in my previous post. Kinbane Castle is the name of the ruin in the middle of the spur and our perspective here is the end of the spur, the spot where a beacon would be lit to warn other outposts of the MacDonnell clan, who had lands around here in Ireland and across the sea in Scotland.

You can see the stepped path zigzagging up the hall beyond the ruin, and it's a lung busting climb up to the car park, but well worth the effort - such an atmospheric place. It must be fabulous at dawn.

It's been so dreary, damp and gloomy since my trip to Balintoy and the north coast and I haven't felt inspired to take any landscape photos, but I was snapping madly at a school Chinese New Year event (I'm a high school teacher, btw) with some performers in traditional costumes who looked amazing. These went on the school's social media and I won't post them on Flickr.

I really enjoy event photography, interacting with people and the fast pace and fun of candids, capturing fleeting moments. Then some more posed portraits of the performers - great fun, and something I want to challenge myself to improve at. My Canon 6D and 24-105 lens are great for this, such a flexible focal range and the Canon gives great jpegs for fast turnaround.
