Relay for Life Candle '22
Each year at RFL Fantasy Fair you can purchase a memorial candle for someone or someones you have lost to cancer. My adoptive family has suffered heavy losses. Last year I purchased a candle for my Opa; this year I purchased a candle to represent all of the members we have lost. Tonight, a candle shines in the darkness of a virtual magic cave by the sea, where waves crash, a gentle wind moans and chimes tinkle. I am also free to buy as many candles as I would like, but I can't remember the proper spellings of all the names. The money goes directly to The American Cancer Association and though that doesn't benefit cancer patients in The Netherlands, Relay For Life's international work does.
Elk jaar kun je op RFL Fantasy Fair een herdenkingskaars kopen voor iemand of iemand die je hebt verloren aan kanker. Mijn biologische familie heeft voor zover ik weet geen kanker, maar mijn adoptiefamilie heeft zware verliezen geleden. Vorig jaar kocht ik een kaars voor mijn Opa; dit jaar kocht ik een kaars om alle leden te vertegenwoordigen die we hebben verloren. Vanavond schijnt een kaars in de duisternis van een virtuele magische grot aan zee, waar golven beuken, een zachte wind kreunt en klokkenspel rinkelt. Ik ben ook vrij om zoveel kaarsen te kopen als ik zou willen, maar ik kan me de juiste spelling van alle namen niet herinneren. Het geld gaat rechtstreeks naar The American Cancer Association en hoewel dat niet ten goede komt aan kankerpatiënten in Nederland, doet het internationale werk van Relay For Life dat wel.
