Ingredients:
For one burger, you'll need:
- 2 tbsp Thousand Island dressing
- 1 tsp sweet pickle relish
- 3 oz lean ground beef
- Hamburger buns (you’ll need twice as many bottoms as tops)
- ¼ cup shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1 slice American cheese
- 1 tbsp minced sweet onion
- 4 1/8-inch-thick dill pickle slices
Detections:
Special Sauce
1. Mix together the Thousand Island dressing and relish in a small bowl, and set it aside.
Burger:
2. Now, shape the beef into patties – for each burger you make you will need two. Season your patties with salt and pepper.
TIP: You can either make a full-sized burger, which means you’ll need 4-inch-wide patties, or you can make smaller sliders. For those, you can make them about half the size of a regular patty.
3. On the stovetop, heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. When that’s hot, add your patties and make sure to keep them flat with a metal spatula. These should cook for about four minutes, or until most of the red has turned brown.
4. Flip your burgers and cook them on the other side for another minute.
5. Move the burgers to one side of the pan, and lightly toast the bun halves in the burger juices.
Assembly:
6. Take one of your bottom bun halves, and spread on 1 tablespoon of the dressing. Top that with half the lettuce, and a slice of cheese, and then a burger patty.
7. Now cover the patty with your other bottom bun, and spread the rest of the dressing on that bun.
8. Now add the onion, the rest of the lettuce, pickle slices and – of course – another all-beef patty. Cover that with the top of your sesame seed bun, and you’re good to go!
