Whistlers Audio

If you are the kind of person that thinks that mp3 files and internet streaming are the peak of the audio experience, then Whistlers Audio is not the place for you.

Tucked away in an alley off an unnamed street in an anonymous town, Whistlers do not have an internet presence, and neither do they advertise their address or purpose.

This makes them almost impossible to find, and that's the way Whistlers clients want it.

Should you ever find yourself inside their premises you will discover a panoply of very top end audio equipment sold nowhere else in the world.

Priding themselves on the combination of a nineteenth century gentility with twenty first century audio crème de la crème, Whistlers is a temple for the wealthy audiophile.

Very special audio cables at a thousand pounds a foot are too ordinary for Whistlers.

Here you are more likely to find acoustic wallpapers, hand painted in gold, to reflect sound more efficiently back to the centre of the room.

You will find carpets made of the finest Bokhara that are hand combed in one direction, allowing the easier passage of air as it is moved by the subwoofer, itself a cubic construction that requires industrially reinforced floors to support it.

You will discover equipment with over one hundred buttons and knobs on the front, for finetuning individual notes, or if you prefer, the same equipment with no buttons whatsoever to allow the purity of the sound to flow.

The human ear, of course, is too coarse an instrument to fully appreciate the beauty of Whistler equipment. So here, then, is the ultimate Whistler accessory.

A fully computerised bust of the Roman Catholic Saint Cecilia with permanently attached headphones is reverently placed in the very heart of your home listening studio, to which only Whistler employees possess the key.

Once you have set up all the ancillaries correctly, (a task only to be entrusted to Whistler employees who will take the required bookings to also power it all up for you just a few short months ahead), you are given a written permit to enable the sound.

The music is then played to St Cecilia (of course in silence as far as the owner is concerned).

If all is well, then her mouth opens in a broad smile and her eyes light up.
