Drones have been widely adopted by photographers worldwide. With the advent of the new technology, comes with related photography contests. But in the meantime, metropolitans like Beijing have introduced strict rules, regulating the usage of drones. Today certain areas in Beijing are not allowed to fly drones. That has prompted me to purchase some visual materials of some iconic landmarks in Beijing’s central district area online, including the National Centre for the Performance Arts and the Palace Museum, among others, taken by drones. I used the video clips as raw materials, and through Smart3DCapture, a technology that has been extensively embraced in China’s urban construction, and reverse modeling, to create new images. Because the raw materials I acquired were from anonymous photographers and lacked crucial details and data, the surfaces of the digital models look bumpy, even with holes. I kept all these bumps and holes, with their corresponding null. It is obvious that their existence is reasonable.
