Phase IV on the Chief
Swinging around the curve at Barclay, KS is Amtrak 4, the eastbound "Soutwest Chief". This train was running approximately 5 hours late due to a BNSF train interference in the southwest.
I planned to catch this in golden light (as thats what the forecasters predicted the previous day) near Lawrence, KS when it was originally 1.5 hours late. When I got up around 5 AM to find it would be even more tardy, I decided to shoot it further west. This shot should've been in decent light, but clouds moved in about 30 minutes prior to its arrival.
Non the less, I am glad I got to shoot the only realistic looking Amtrak heritage unit.
