Fresh Candy Apple
Flying down M2 of the CP Kansas City Subdivision at Excelsior Springs, MO is train 576, a unit train loaded with Canadian crude oil.
It’s always neat seeing these as-needed unit trains fly by at 45-60 MPH between Liberty and Excelsior Springs even though condition of the rails look questionable. On the left used to be some sort of set-out track that was recently abandoned. While I’m not too sure, that track could’ve been apart of the Milwaukee Road depot that used to be behind me. All that remains of that is a dusty brick platform. Both MILW and CRI&P trains used to serve Excelsior Springs.
GE or EMD, a clean leader is always a welcome sight. A UP grainer coming off of the Trenton Sub was racing this thing down M1, and they stuck together from Mosby to Birmingham.
