N = 9.0
U = 457.2 mm
f = 35 mm
Using the DoF equation: (2CNU^2)/f^2
DoF = ( 2 * 0.020 * 9.0 * (457.2)^2 ) / (35)^2
= 53.848 mm
The ruler is also at a 45 degree angle, so that must be accounted for:
DoF = sqrt(2) * 53.848 ≅ 76.152mm
Looking at the photo, I’d say that it is fully focused around about the 5.5 cm to 13.5cm mark, which would be a range of 80mm, which is pretty close to the calculated 76mm and approximately double than the DoF calculated for the aperture that is half of f/9.0!
