Rope and its raw materials
At the ropery of the Openluchtmuseum in Arnhem, people still create rope the old fashioned way. Using a rope walk, twined fiber from natural hemp or sisal fibers are combined to an all natural and extremely strong rope.
Depending on the length and thickness of the rope, working at the ropery was hard work! Just imagine having to create a 200m ship line!
