Saying Good-Bye--Wilderness Hotel, Inari
“We swam among the Northern Lights, hid beyond the edge of night, waited for the dawn to come, and sang a song to save us all.”—folk song
Last night in Inari.
Aurora put on a spectacular show. It was fascinating to watch as it ebbed and flowed all around us, across the broad expanse of inky sky. The camera picks up far more colors than the naked eye can see. Sometimes a brilliant glow, other times very defined strokes, a brush painting across a canvas of stars.
I think I enjoyed seeing the awe in the others as much as I reveled in it myself. It is an infectious feeling of excitement, and we were bitten by the Aurora bug. I certainly hope to see her once again. We slept with smiles on our faces and visions of northern lights dancing in our heads, the memories warming our spirits as we made the long journey home.
