Resilient Reconstruction of Community Structures

Hélder Felizardo Moisés, 26 years old, was one of the young people assisted by the UNDP disaster resilience program "Mozambique Recovery Facility". He joined the group of artisans, carpenters and

masons who were affected by the cyclones and received technical trainings on community

and resilient construction. "I could not find a job after Cyclone Idai. With UNDP I now have the chance to recover my earnings and to build stronger houses with my mates. I feel like any one of them”. Through 30 percent theoretical and 70 percent

practical classes, he gained the extra confidence and skills needed to work more

seriously in this area. As result, he has supported the reconstruction of the preventive centre for Gender-Based Violence in Dondo district and constructed 40 houses in Chibabava district.
