Mars2020 - Perseverance - MastCam-Z - SOL 676 - Video 8K 60FPS via AI
Here is a new way of making video from NASA's Mars2020 mission. What you see is what Perseverance saw at SOL 676 (Jan. 14, 2023) via its MastCam-Zs.
Instead of the usual composite image, as I usually show, I used a new artificial intelligence model to create the motion between the photos, all to show you, three-dimensionally, what the rock would look like if it were in front of your eyes. From this video, you will also not only understand the shape of the rock, but you will also be able to perceive the terrain around it, a terrain that is not flat, but has both convex and concave areas.
I started with the two NASA Raw images taken by Perseverance's MastCam-Z. From there, I first did an enlargement via AI to about 8K and then created the intermediate frames from one photo to the other. This is not just a simple rotation of the image, but a real change in the observation perspective-this is the huge added value of this specific AI model.
