GRB 221009A - Swift - NASA - bright rings - image A - Reconstruction and enlargement via AI.
The Swift X-ray telescope captured the afterglow of GRB 221009A about an hour after its first detection. The bright rings form as a result of X-rays scattered from otherwise unobservable dust layers within our galaxy that are in the direction of the burst. The internal black vertical bar is due to the detection instrument and must be considered as a graphic artefact. This is our reconstruction and enlargement via AI of the image provided. The file is available for download at 56.25 million pixels with a resolution of 7500x7500 pixels.
