JWST - Neptunian system with its rings and surrounding area - NIRCam - Magnification and reconstruction via AI - Detail 1

Reconstruction, using our artificial intelligence model, of the photo of Neptune, acquired by the JWST through the NIRCam (in the near-infrared range from 0.6 to 5 microns). Our artificial intelligence model cleaned up distortions and background noise as much as possible, after which the entire image was upscaled. At the top left, one can see that Triton appears as a very bright star. Triton reflects an average of 70 percent of the sunlight that hits it. It far outshines Neptune in this image because the planet’s atmosphere is darkened by methane absorption at these near-infrared wavelengths.
