This image covers an area of 340 light years out of the Tarantula Nebula's maximum extent of about 500. The instrument used is the NIRCam (Near-Infrared Camera). The JWST, through this instrument, shows us the star-forming region in a new light, with tens of thousands of young stars never seen before and previously shrouded in cosmic dust.
