Moon Jar

This glazed porcelain vase is a ceramic from the Korean Art collection. It was purchased from the J. H. Wade Fund in 1983. Also known as a "moon jar" because of its form and color, the jar is associated with porcelain from the Joseon dynasty and valuing Neo-Confucianism. They have a lack of underglaze cobalt blue to represent the artist's reaction to their socioeconomic status caused by the 1670 and 1695 famines.
