Serpant

Title: Serpent (tunjo)

The Serpent dates around circa 10th–16th century. It is metal-ornaments predicted to come around from the area of Colombia of the Muisca people. The Serpent is made of gold or rather, White gold and is 1/8 by height and 7/8 inches by width and L. 4 ½ inches by length. It was founded by Jan Mitchell and Sons Collection, Gift of Jan Mitchell, 1992. Depiction of snakes are frequent ly seen in the artwork based on the fact serpents were offerings and the Lakes were considered sacred as mythical ancestors via in the form of snakes and were said to inhabit the bodies of water where sacrificed were made.
