Although the exact identity of the artist remains unknown, the Six-Armed God Ganesha is still a sight to behold. Forged from bronze and saturated with red pigment this statue was created for idol worship in the 17th century between 1601-1700 in Nepal. The god is shown holding various objects within his six arms including that of an axe and a rope. Two animals sit at his feet while a beautiful bronze border encompasses him from the back. Traces of red pigment bleed through his headdress and parts of his garments. His elephant head, which was given to him after he was beheaded by his father, shines the brightest out of the rest of the sculpture and has stayed the cleanest. This is shown off in a stunning display at the Art Institute of Chicago.
