Legend of the Christmas Tree.
Created for : Challenge 196 Legend of the Christmas
Based on the short story of: the French writer Jean Baptiste Poquelin Molière.
**“A very, very long time ago, on Christmas Eve, there were three trees beside the nativity scene: a date palm, an olive tree, and a pine. When they saw the Baby Jesus being born, the three trees wished to offer Him a gift.
The olive tree was the first to give, offering the Baby Jesus its olives. The date palm, right after, presented Him with its sweet dates. But the pine, having nothing to offer, became very unhappy.
The stars in the sky, seeing the pine’s sadness — because it had nothing to give the Baby Jesus — decided to come down and rest upon its branches, lighting and decorating the pine. When this happened, the Baby Jesus looked at the pine, raised His little arms, and smiled!
Legend has it that this is how the pine — always adorned with lights — became the traditional Christmas tree.”**
