How to build your vocabulary for writing?

Dear Parents,

Elementary-level students often write the way they text, overlooking proper sentence structure and grammatical principles.

Kids often find themselves staring at blank pages, wondering how to start their essays. It is important for students to learn that writing is a process that begins with close reading, note-taking, brainstorming, organizing ideas using mind maps, and creating outlines. It is only after such preparatory steps are taken that a student is ready to begin developing a formal essay with clear, concise, and argumentative sentences that flow smoothly.

Queen Elizabeth Academy is offering a class (Einstein English) for children to learn the foundations of writing and develop advanced communication skills. The course is taught by Anthony, who is one of our instructors on the QEA English team. Anthony has a master’s degree in English literature from The University of Toronto and has over 3 years of teaching experience.
