Mother-and-Child-Figure - 1931.426_web

The "Mother-And-Child-Figure" is a wooden sculpture of a maternal figure holding her child, she appears to have been holding objects in her hands at some point but they are nowhere to be seen. She is decorated with glass beads and her skin is stained with natural pigment. The sculpture is from Central Africa and is thought to have been made around the late 1800s - early 1900s. The dimensions are 53.4 x 13.1 x 14.6 cm (21 x 5 3/16 x 5 3/4 in.) and the sculpture was a gift of the African Art Sponsors of Karamu House 1931.426. The image is in the Public Domain and can be seen on the museum's website.
