Seated Pair Statue - 1920.2003_web
Seated Pair Statue, an Egyptian Ka sculpture of painted limestone, depicts a husband and wife with their arms around each other’s waists. Ka sculptures were placed in tombs to provide homes for the spirits of the dead. This sculpture is believed to be from el-Salmiya, opposite Armant, and dates to the New Kingdom, Dynasty 18 (Tuthmosis III), circa 1479–1425 B. C. Its dimensions are 15 3/8 x 8 1/4 x 9 15/16 in. (39 x 21 x 25.2 cm). A gift of the John Huntington Art and Polytechnic Trust, Seated Pair Statue can be viewed at the Cleveland Museum of Art Egyptian gallery #107. Accession number 1920.2003.
