"Icon of the Mother of God and Infant Christ (Virgin Eleousa)" is a medieval Greek piece that was created circa 1425–1450 that portrays Jesus and his mother against a rich gold background. This 15th century piece from Crete is attributed to Angelos Akotantos. The piece was created using tempera and gold on a wooden panel and its unframed dimensions are 96 cm by 70 cm. This piece was obtained by the Cleveland Museum of Art in 2010 as a part of the Leonard C. Hanna, Jr. Fund where it was the 154th piece. Images of this piece can be found on the website of the Cleveland Museum of Art and these images are available for public domain use. This piece is also on display at the Cleveland Museum of Art in section 105 of Byzantine art.
