Cartonnage Mummy Case - 1914.715_web

Cartonnage Mummy Case was created in Egypt circa 50 BC - AD 50. The period of this piece was the late Ptolemaic Dynasty to the start of the Roman Empire. This detailed work is made of cartonnage and glass inlays and the creator painted and gilded it to give it its elaborate and rich appearance. The piece stands at 20.5 cm tall by 57 cm wide. This work was obtained as a gift of the John Huntington Art and Polytechnic Trust. It was obtained by the Cleveland Museum of Art in 1914 and it was the 715th piece. Cartonnage Mummy Case is on display in the Egyptian exhibition in section 107.
