Lost and Found
Cannon Beach, Oregon
By midday Cannon Beach is bustling with tourists and families enjoying the long stretch of sand, but in the early morning fog it was nearly deserted. It has been such a hot and dry summer that I reveled in walking through the mist, feeling the coolness of it and the damp air on my face, hearing only the sounds of the crashing waves and the occasional squawk of the seagulls.
Shortly after I took this photo looking toward Haystack Rock, the fog rolled in closer to shore, obscuring the rocks. As the lines between sea and shore blurred and the fog swirled around, it was a moment to feel at one with the beach and the ocean.
