Tuxford Central Signal Box Track Diagram
I visited this box on 28 October 1966. I visited 9 boxes that day, see my "boxes visited" log.

Dates and other stuff:
Box opened 1896, lever frame was manufactured 1893 and was a Saxby & Farmer 4" trigger frame of 22 levers.
It appears lever 23 was added in 1956 to work the connection into the new oil depot built in the former goods yard. It seems strange that an exit signal was not provided.
Distant signal 22 was made electrically operated at the same time (lever would have been a "pull between"!)
There was originally a short Down Siding opposite the box with entry and exit discs and trap points.
Also lever 3 was a Down Platform Starter, Up Starter 20 used to be 19 and 20 was an Up Platform Starter.
25 March 1984 - Box closed with the line singled. A run round loop was provided between the crossovers, worked by Ground Frames released by Boughton Junction box, but only for a few weeks when a further enforced resignalling took place from 13 May 1984 due to Boughton Junction box being burnt down - the Ground Frames were then released by Ollerton Colliery box.
