Sutton-in-Ashfield (GN) sidings - then and now montage 1966 & 2019
The top photo of this montage shows 76051 shunting the Metal Box Co. (Oddicroft factory) stock in Sutton-in-Ashfield (Town) yard on 25 July 1966.
On 26 March 2019 I decided to take a modern day photo of the scene (the lower photo). My wife Janet accompanied me.
I took an A4 copy of my 1966 photo which Janet held for me to produce the right framing effect.
That day we did experience how Society has changed over the years. Whilst trying to get a shot that I would be pleased with we noticed our presence being watched by staff at the school (we were stood on public grounds). After a time a staff member came across to us and asked what we were doing. We explained to her our intentions and showed her my 1966 photo. She was interested and was OK with what we were doing. I just feel, though, it's a sad reflection of the times we live in now!!
