Dates as I know....
16 August 1898 - Box opened, which is before the line opening date of 21 September 1898.
9 January 1967 - Became the end of the line (buffers at tunnel mouth) after the Ministry of Transport paid for a chord line to connect the LDECR at Langwith Colliery Jn to MR line at Norwood Crossing so that they didn't have to build a bridge during the construction of the M1 Motorway. A drawing of the terminus layout is here www.flickr.com/photos/192151030@N08/52463500037/in/album-...
3 August 1968 - Box closed, line singled from Beighton Junction, one train working. The diagram for that can be seen here www.flickr.com/photos/192151030@N08/51685849816/in/album-...
In 1984 Westthorpe Colliery closed and then the line from Beighton Junction to Spink Hill closed, apart from a short section at Beighton which was used as a run-round loop and reversing siding (Information from p 113 of Chris Booth's book "The Lancashire Derbyshire and East Coast Railway Vol 1").
