Nottingham Victoria on 3 September 1966

Just over a week after my visit to Nottingham Victoria North Signal Box I returned to the station. It was. of course, the last day of through running on the GC main line and the Locomotive Club of Great Britain operated "The Great Central Rail Tour".

Here we see 61173 piloting 61131 as they pass the North Signal Box. They were in charge of this leg of the journey, from Sheffield Victoria to Nottingham Victoria via Clowne, Langwith Junction, Clipstone West Junction, Mansfield, Kirkby South Junction.

They were replaced at Nottingham by 35030 "Elder Dempster Lines" which took the train back to London, terminating at Marylebone station.

The Railtour information can be seen here www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/60s/660903lc.html
