This view, taken on 28 January 1994, is looking from above where Kirkby tunnel will be opened out (on the extreme right of the photo). On the right middle you can see the track bed of the line from Newstead and Annesley.
Warren House can be seen. For additional interest I have marked, in blue, the approximate course of the ex Great Central Railway with the approximate position of the "south-east" portal of Annesley tunnel. That tunnel was a lot longer that the ex MR tunnel and was situated below the MR one.
