Robin Hood Line Storyboard_5

The end of the line for Stage 1, the buffer stops just north of Newstead Station, seen here on 3 June 1995.

It was quite strange looking at the line. It looked for all the world like it was diving downwards when, in fact, it was level. The ruling gradient here is 1 in 79 uphill and, clearly, the requirements for the service was that the train stood on level track prior to commencing the journey back to Nottingham.
