The Royal train departs from Mansfield, heading towards Sutton-in-Ashfield on 21st March 1997. Queen Elizabeth II had alighted at the Robin Hood Line Mansfield station to travel by road and officially open the newly amalgamated boys and girls Queen Elizabeth School at Mansfield.
The former Co-op building dominates the top left background and the footbridge which was close to Mansfield North Junction box can be seen behind the train.
